Live on TV2's Erin Simpson Show on Friday 24th August, Pukekohe's local culinary stars at Pukekohe Intermediate were announced as the winners of the MAGGI Kitchen Showdown 2012, taking home the major prize of $5,000 for their school.
The team, Roxane Rawnsley, Brenjaze Edwards, Rebecca Goulstone and Willow de Jonge, supported by their teacher Mrs Woods.
Each of the 3 schools competing as Finalists in the National Cook-Off had just 1 hour to prepare and cook a main meal for four people using at least two MAGGI products and prepare a dessert using a recipe supplied by the judging panel.
In its third year, the MAGGI Intermediate Schools Kitchen Showdown is a cooking competition that promotes Kiwi kids getting into the kitchen and using a creative approach towards fun, simple, and healthy meals that the whole family can enjoy.
The expert judging panel were wowed by an overall 'stepping up' of the competition entries in 2012 from previous years, and were particularly impressed by the high level of creativity and preparation the stand-out teams were applying well in advance of the competition kick-off.
