What exactly does the term “Greenblend” mean?

The first part of the name comes from the unroasted “green” coffee bean content of the product. The “blend” part refers to the combination of the green and roasted beans that make up the delicious end product.

What have you done/added to the product?

Instead of roasting all of the coffee beans, as we do for regular coffee, a proportion of the beans in NESCAFÉ Greenblend are unroasted. The green coffee beans are a natural source of antioxidant polyphenols.

Aren’t the antioxidant levels in green tea similar to those in NESCAFÉ Greenblend?

A recent clinical study found that, although a cup of green tea contains similar levels of antioxidant polyphenols, the body absorbs 70% more antioxidants from NESCAFÉ Greenblend than from a cup of green tea*.

Why is the coffee brown – not green?

NESCAFÉ Greenblend is made like regular instant coffee with the exception of the use of some unroasted (‘green’) coffee beans in addition to roasted coffee beans. Although the unroasted coffee beans are a very light green colour, the end product/blend appears similar to regular coffee.

Is there caffeine in it?

NESCAFÉ Greenblend has a similar level of caffeine as regular soluble/instant coffee.

NESCAFÉ Greenblend delivers 70% more antioxidants polyphenols to the body than green tea*, but isn’t coffee bad for my health?

There are several misconceptions about coffee being bad for health. Coffee in moderation (3-4 cups) as part of a balanced diet can contribute positively to health and wellbeing. Consuming too much coffee can have negative effects on health for some people. Antioxidants are only one of the positive aspects of coffee, here are some others:

  • Instant coffee is made by brewing coffee, then removing the water. Nothing artificial is added in this process.
  • Coffee can be associated with feelings of increased energy, motivation, alertness and concentration.
  • Regular, moderate coffee consumption can support fluid balance and doesn’t lead to dehydration.
  • Research shows adding milk to your coffee does not affect the antioxidant activity of your coffee or the delivery of antioxidant polyphenols to your body.
  • Coffee without sugar and only a dash of milk is a low calorie / kilojoule drink compared to soft drinks, juices, cordials etc.
