SPAGHETTI BOLOGNESE
A Kiwi favourite that is universally popular. Choose mince that has very little visible ‘white’ fat as this is much better for your health. Vegetables are included in this recipe for added nutrition.

2 teaspoons canola oil or cooking spray
400g lean minced Beef, pork, chicken or lamb
1 onion, finely chopped
1 cup chopped or grated fresh or frozen vegetables (e.g. carrot, spinach, mushrooms or mixed frozen vegetables)
1 teaspoon MAGGI Stock Powder (any flavour)
2 teaspoons dried herbs (any kind) 4 cups boiling water
1 can chopped tomatoes (400g)
1 can brown lentils (400g)
1⁄2 cup tomato paste
250g dried spaghetti OR any shaped pasta

How to make:
1. Heat oil in a large non-stick fry-pan, and cook mince for 3 minutes, stirring to break up meat.
2. Add onion and stir-fry for 2 minutes or until soft Add vegetables and stir-fry for a further 3 minutes.
3. Add stock powder, herbs, boiling water, tomatoes, and tomato paste to pan and bring to the boil, stirring.
4. Add pasta and stir well. Simmer covered for 15 minutes or until cooked, stirring occasionally.
5. Serve with a sprinkle of parsley to garnish, if desired, and a green salad or vegetables of your choice.
