Supporting communities since 2011

The Nestlé Cook for Life programme (NCFL) has been running in New Zealand since 2011.

We aim to equip youth with nutritional education and core cooking skills, which empowers them to influence their whanau to lead healthier lives, ultimately enriching the wellbeing of our communities. We believe that prevention is key to making generational changes in the health landscape.

Our Nestlé Cook for Life programme focuses on skills that help enable behavioural change; increasing nutrition literacy, gaining skills in cooking and helping foster a healthy mindset that supports a healthy relationship with food.

Nutrition through Nestlé Cook for Life

Our programme provides youth (aged 13 – 19) with nutrition education and teaches core cooking skills in a fun and supportive environment. This nutrition knowledge helps empower youth to make good choices, influence family and friends to lead healthier lives, and ultimately aims to enrich the wellbeing of our communities.

In a practical Nestlé Cook for Life session our goal is to inspire and enable behavioural change through:

  1. Increasing food, nutrition and health knowledge
  2. Teaching practical cooking skills to make healthy, tasty, and easy recipes using affordable ingredients typically found at home

Positive partners for our community

Creating Shared Value is fundamental to how we do business at Nestlé. Our programmes, products and our partnerships make a positive difference to our communities.

The Nestlé Cook for Life programme is aligned to the Nestlé purpose of unlocking the power of food to enhance quality of life for everyone, today and for generations to come.

Already, the world has made great strides in reducing childhood mortality and eliminating diseases, but there’s still a long way to go. We believe by sharing our nutrition knowledge, teaching core cooking skills and promoting good wellbeing education, we can help people live longer, happier, healthier lives.

We are particularly focused on encouraging kids around the world to eat nutritious food and get active by creating new and better products, promoting education and conducting industry-leading scientific research. By 2030, our global initiative Nestlé for Healthier Kids aims to help 50 million kids lead healthier lives. Read more about our Nestlé for Healthier Kids initiative here.
