Our Nestlé Purina Petcare factory in Marton manufactures a range of high-quality nutritional products for pets, including some of New Zealand’s most loved pet food brands such as TUX and Purina.
Similarly to cooking at home, there can be aromas associated with the pet food manufacturing process. While we work hard to minimise these aromas using detailed odour mitigation plans and systems, weather conditions such as air temperature, humidity, terrain, wind speed and direction play a part in how strong and noticeable the cooking aromas of petfood may appear.
We have almost 60 team members, and our factory has been proud to be part of the Marton community since 1965 – we are committed to being a responsible neighbour. That’s why we’re dedicating significant time, resources and investment towards developing additional odour mitigation systems specifically designed for the factory.
To help us do this, we engaged an expert to conduct a full analysis of the site and the conditions that might lead to aromas offsite. We have used what we have learned from this analysis to develop improvements to our factory which will minimise any aromas.
We will provide updates on this work on this page.

We are pleased to report the project to install equipment to minimise aromas is complete. We appreciate the patience and feedback of the community throughout this process.
