Caring for the Environment
Reducing our Footprint
Environmental sustainability is integral to Creating Shared Value: ensuring that our activities preserve the environment for future generations, while at the same time meeting the needs of the present.
We focus on reducing the energy, greenhouse gas emissions and water used by our factories, distribution centres and offices, reducing waste across our business, maximising recycling and minimising the impacts of our packaging; all whilst ensuring food quality and safety is not compromised.
Policy, management systems and reporting
Our environmental sustainability strategy and approach is based on the Nestlé Policy on Environmental Sustainability(pdf, 1.6 Mb).
Our Nestlé Safety, Health and Environment System which complies with the requirements of the international standards ISO 14001 and OHSAS18001, provides a framework for assessing and managing our environmental impacts and safety standards, compliance with legislation and for delivering on our commitments. Building on the corporate management system, each manufacturing site, distribution centre and Head Office in Rhodes is required to maintain its own system and certification against ISO 14001 and OHSAS18001. All factories, Distribution Centres and our regional head office have now been certified to ISO 14001.
