  • 1 cup (220g) brown sugar
  • 125g unsalted butter, melted 
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence
  • 1 cup (160g) self-raising flour, sifted
  • 1½ cups UNCLE TOBYS Traditional Oats
  • 20g butter (extra)
  • 1 block (180g) NESTLÉ BAKERS' CHOICE Cooking Chocolate, chopped
  • ½ cup (125mL) HIGHLANDER Sweetened Condensed Milk
  • ½ cup (55g) walnuts, coarsely chopped
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence (extra)
  1. 1 Preheat oven to 180°c/160°c fan-forced. Grease and line 18 x 28cm slice pan with baking paper.
  2. 2 In a medium bowl combine brown sugar, butter, egg and vanilla. Stir in sifted flour and UNCLE TOBYS Traditional Oats and mix well. Pour mixture into prepared pan and press firmly to make an even layer.
  3. 3 Combine NESTLÉ BAKERS' CHOICE Cooking Chocolate, HIGHLANDER Sweetened Condensed Milk and extra butter in a medium saucepan. Stir over low heat until chocolate is melted, then remove from heat and stir in walnuts and extra vanilla essence.
  4. 4 Spread chocolate mixture evenly over oat base. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until cooked. Cool and cut into bars.
